Artemisinin will not hurt healthy cells. Because Artemisinin chooses cells with high iron it is very safe to use in all cases except if your pet is undergoing radiation. If your animal is undergoing radiation you must not use Artemisinin. Radiation will break up cancer cells, which spreads their iron into other surrounding cells. In this case, Artemisinin can hurt the normal cells as well. You must wait a month after the last treatment of radiation to administer Artemisinin
DOSAGES
The dosage recommendation for Arte is 1 to 3 mg per pound. I am using 2 1/2 mg per pound for Abby. I started her on 1 mg per pound and increased it up to 2 1/2 mg over a few weeks period. She is receiving 50 mg and she is 18 lbs.
The best time to administer Artemisinin is in the evening before bedtime around 10:00 p.m. because cancer is more active in the night while sleeping.
Give the Arte with some natural fat to help improve absorption. Any iron present from foods may neutralize the effects of artemisinin; therefore, do not give any high iron foods 6-8 hours before administering Arte. Milk is one of the few foods with minimal iron. Whole milk, cottage cheese or yogurt all contain plenty of fat to improve absorption; I use cottage cheese. I open the capsule and sprinkle it on the cottage cheese and she doesn’t seem to mind it at all.
No anti-oxidants should be given before using Artemisinin. The reasoning is because anti-oxidants destroy free radicals in cells and the action of free radicals by Artemisinin is what destroys the cancer cells. Some anti-oxidants like vitamin E have a long life in the body. Only give supplements like NuPro with the morning meal and give an anti-oxidant (NuVet) only when you are on off days from Arte. I am giving Abby two NuVet tablets daily while she is off of Arte. I give her the Nupro supplement every day whether she is on or off of Arte. Do not use any rich iron foods like Liver or peanut butter especially while giving Arte.
Cancer is a lot like the malaria parasite. If just one cell remains, it can find its way back. Even if the parasite is cleared up, using a prolonged treatment will best prevent relapse. And the thrilling part of this treatment is that it is non-toxic, so you can continue taking it indefinitely with no expected sided effects.
Studies have shown that Artemisinin works best if there is a break from it every two weeks. I recommend giving this herbal for 11 days then stopped for three and then restarted for another 11 days on and 3 days off cycles. I would do this for the first month. Over the course of 6 months I have dropped Abbys Artimisinin to 1 week on Arte and then 3 weeks off. I will keep this schedule for the rest of her life.
As with everything, please check with your animal’s vet before using this product.
